With regard to popular and communal theater, he is especially interested in contemporary creative expressions. With regard to political theater, he specializes in the interweaving of art and social manifestations of political performance.

In addition to being a CITRU researcher, he has participated in projects within the Cervantino International Festival (Festival Internacional Cervantino), the Government of Mexico City and the National Council for Educational Promotion (Consejo Nacional para el Fomento Educativo). He is founding coordinator of CUIJA Theater Documentation, based in Morelos. He has been a professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM) and at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México). He has also been an organizer of and lecturer in academic events in Mexico, the United States, Brazil and Peru. He is the author of the Newspaper-Bibliography of History and Critic of Theater in Mexico since 1900 (2604 references) (Mexico, CITRU/INBA, 2008); he is coauthor of Four Plays for Magazine for “The Theater of These Days” (1932) (Mexico, UAM-A, 2008); as well as of articles and essays that have been published in books, magazines and online editions of the following institutions: INBA, UNAM, UAM, UIA and NYU. He is working on the edition of the e-Notebook of Research on Community Theater and The Theater of These Days: A First Rehearsal of Political Theater in Mexico, both of which will be published by CITRU/INBA. Currently, he is participating in the project “Migration Theatricalities”, a collaboration between CITRU and Arizona State University. He is a theater director and promoter. He has participated in more than twenty independently produced plays for community and non-government organizations, as well as in other plays produced by the National Institute of Fine Arts (Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes), The Cultural Institute of Morelos (Instituto de Cultura de Morelos) and the General Management of Popular Cultures (Dirección General de Culturas Populares). He was also a beneficiary of the Mexico in the Scene program by CENART/FONCA.
