Ramón Layera devised a questionnaire on Rodolfo Usigli’s life and career (1905-1979) and addressed it to Usigli’s “contemporary artists, disciples and followers”. The answers offer a close view on the human and cultural environment in which Usigli worked, they also reveal important yet not well known facets to his public personality. These are the participants: Francisco Monterde, Luis G. Basurto, Margarita Mendoza López, Octavio Paz, Rafael Solana, Héctor Azar, Carlos Solórzano, Emilio Carballido, Luisa Josefina Hernández, Héctor Mendoza, Raúl Moncada Galán, Vicente Leñero, Hugo Argüelles, Luis de Tavira, Guillermo Schmidhuber and -with a dramatic dialogue- José Emilio Pacheco; a biography of the artist precedes each testimony, all written by Layera himself. In the appendix there is the type of questionnaire used in the survey.
